According to a report by Mining.com, citing Reuters, Russian diamond producer Alrosa announced on Tuesday that its 2025 production is expected to reach 29.7 million carats, in line with previous forecasts but down 10% from last year's level.

In a statement, the company’s CEO, Pavel Marinychev, said that despite Western sanctions and a downturn in the global diamond market, the company has still managed to remain profitable. He did not disclose the exact amount of profit.

Alrosa is the world’s largest diamond producer, accounting for roughly one-third of global output. In March, the company announced that it would temporarily close low-profit mines with production volumes below 1 million carats, while maintaining its 2025 production forecast of 29 million carats.

Alrosa stated that it will continue developing its gold mining project and aims to achieve an annual designed production capacity of 3.3 tons by 2030 at Degdekan, located in the Magadan region of Russia's Far East. (Ministry of Natural Resources)
