Recently, the projects “Investigation of Tungsten and Tin Polymetallic Mineral Resources in the East China Region” and “Investigation and Evaluation of Strategic Minerals such as Copper and Lithium in Key Exploration Areas along the Southern Margin of the Jiangnan Block in the East China Region,” both undertaken by the Nanjing Geological Survey Center of the China Geological Survey, have passed the review. Two new mineral deposits have been discovered.

The two projects focus on strategic minerals such as copper, gold, lithium, tungsten, and medium-to-heavy rare earth elements. They have completed four 1:50,000-scale mineral geological surveys and two block-selection surveys and evaluations in Jiangxi, Fujian, and other regions. A total of seven prospective mineral exploration targets and two recommended exploration blocks have been identified, along with the discovery of two new mineral deposits. The projects have also refined the ore-forming theories for highly differentiated granites in the eastern section of the Nanling Mountains and for shallow-low-temperature hydrothermal–porphyry copper-gold deposits along the southeastern coast. Furthermore, preliminary hyperspectral identification markers for lithium, rare earth elements, and shallow-low-temperature hydrothermal gold-copper deposits have been established. These efforts will support the extended development of the mining industry in southern Jiangxi and southwestern Fujian, as well as rural revitalization.

Next, the Nanjing Geological Survey Center will further focus on strategically critical minerals that are in short supply nationwide, continuing to advance mineral geological surveys along the eastern segment of the metallogenic belt in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the southern margin of the Jiangnan landmass, and making every effort to support the new round of mineral exploration breakthrough initiatives in East China.
