I. The fluorite market is experiencing a surge in prices.
According to the data, the domestic fluorite market price saw a significant increase in January, reaching 2,770 yuan per ton at the end of the month—a rise of 8.41% from the beginning-of-month price of 2,555 yuan per ton, and an increase of 79.87% year-on-year.
As of the end of the month, fluorite prices in the Inner Mongolia region of China ranged from 2,800 to 3,000 yuan per ton, while in Fujian, the mainstream negotiated price for fluorite was between 2,700 and 2,900 yuan per ton. Supply from domestic fluorite manufacturers is extremely tight, causing fluorite prices to rise sharply.
The reason for the price increase is, first, that manufacturers have halted or reduced production due to policy impacts, leading to tight supply.
Second, the market prices of downstream products (such as hydrofluoric acid) have risen sharply, and this upward trend in the downstream product markets provides some positive support for upstream fluorite.
Third, the domestic downstream refrigerant market is showing signs of improvement. Spring is traditionally the peak season for the downstream refrigerant industry, driving robust demand for refrigerants and causing domestic fluorite prices to continue rising.
II. China has relatively abundant fluorite resources.
01
Total reserves
China is a major country in terms of fluorite reserves and production; currently, its reserves rank among the highest in the world. Second, Accounting for the global total reserves 15.38%.
Although its reserve share is not high, its production ranks first in the world, accounting for 65.97% of global total production (2015).
The grade of fluorite deposits in China generally ranges from 35% to 40%. Among these, high-grade ores with a grade exceeding 65% amount to only 3 million tons, accounting for approximately 23.8% of the proven reserves; whereas high-grade ores with a grade above 80% total less than 10 million tons.
02
Resource distribution
Fluorite resources have been identified in 27 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, with approximately 874 mining areas. Among these, the fluorite reserves in Hunan Province, Zhejiang Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Fujian Province, and Jiangxi Province together account for a significant share of the nation's total reserves. 70% Many.
