According to a report by BNAmericas, New Pacific Metals Corp., together with its local Bolivian partner, has announced the results of the first five drill core samples from its Carangas gold-silver project in the Oruro Province of Bolivia, as part of its 2022 drilling program.
As of now, the Carangas project has drilled a total of 31 boreholes, with a combined total footage of 16,754 meters. The results reported this time pertain to the first five borehole samples. Analysis of the remaining 26 borehole samples is expected to be completed by the 10th week following sample submission. The analysis results indicate the presence of extensive gold mineralization beneath the surface silver mineralization.
Currently, the project has deployed a total of five drilling rigs, three of which are capable of drilling to a depth of 1,000 meters. The drilling targets include both surface silver mineralization and deep-seated gold mineralization, while the other two smaller rigs are focused solely on the surface silver mineralization zone.
Hole DCAr0039 intersected mineralization over a 152.73-meter interval from 9.35 meters to 162.08 meters, with a silver grade of 55 grams per ton, lead content of 0.53%, and zinc content of 1.07%. This interval includes a 36.75-meter-thick zone with a silver grade of 195 grams per ton, lead content of 1.19%, and zinc content of 2.57%. Just below the silver-mineralized section, drilling encountered mineralization over a 535.63-meter interval from 162.08 meters to 697.71 meters, with a gold grade of 1.00 gram per ton and a silver grade of 11 grams per ton. Notably, at a depth of 450.34 meters, a 72.16-meter-long mineralized zone was intercepted, with a gold grade of 3.54 grams per ton and a silver grade of 12 grams per ton.
Gold mineralization occurs in strongly argillized and sericitic welded tuffs and andesitic volcanic tuffs, where disseminated sulfides can be observed, intergrown with fine veins of pyrite and chalcopyrite—similar to those reported in previous drill holes.
This borehole extends from Easg Dome through Central Valley to West Dome, with an azimuth of 254° and a dip of -66°.
Hole DCAr0036 intersected two silver-mineralized intervals. The first interval occurs from 13.17 meters to 71 meters depth, with a silver grade of 166 grams per ton, lead content of 0.47%, and zinc content of 0.25%. The second interval is located from 114 meters to 209.65 meters depth, featuring a silver grade of 35 grams per ton, lead content of 0.32%, and zinc content of 1.06%. Below the silver-mineralized intervals, the hole encountered gold mineralization over a 215.81-meter section from 280.74 meters to 496.55 meters depth, with a gold grade of 0.73 grams per ton and silver content of 18 grams per ton. The hole’s azimuth is 230°, and its dip angle is -45°.
Hole DCAr0038 intersected mineralization over a 58.10-meter interval from 10.0 meters to 59.1 meters, with silver grades of 507 grams per ton, lead at 0.60%, and zinc at 0.94%. Notably, within the interval from 43.57 meters to 48.74 meters, a 5.17-meter-thick mineralized zone was encountered, containing silver grades of 6,236 grams per ton, lead at 2.62%, zinc at 6.23%, and copper at 0.42%. A second silver mineralized zone was identified at a depth of 99.25 meters, with a mineralized body 90.90 meters thick, containing silver grades of 28 grams per ton, lead at 0.47%, and zinc at 1.25%. Additionally, further downhole at a depth of 334.27 meters, mineralization was encountered over a 68.03-meter interval, with gold grades of 0.41 gram per ton, silver at 3 grams per ton, lead at 0.31%, and zinc at 0.52%. This hole is located near Dongqiu, with an azimuth of 20° and a gentle dip angle of -45°.
Hole DCAr0037 intersected mineralization over a 98.65-meter interval from 10.85 meters to 109.5 meters, with a silver grade of 88 grams per ton. This hole also traversed the Middle Valley, with an azimuth of 350° and a gentle dip angle of -45°.
