Santana Mining Company believes that its Beno (Bendigo-Ophir) gold mine in central Otago, New Zealand, has the potential to become a world-class deposit.
The resource estimate for the project’s primary deposit, the RAS gold mine, has increased by 1 million ounces to 2.66 million ounces, with a cut-off grade of 2.5 grams per tonne.
The new grade is 30% higher than originally estimated.
Most of the resource at the Bendigo-Ofir gold mine consists of primary sulfide ore. Metallurgical tests conducted last year indicated excellent beneficiation performance.
The project is located near OceanaGold’s Macraes gold mine.
The preliminary tests required for development have not yet been conducted.
