From September 12 to 13, the China Mining Association held the 3rd Forum on Mining Technology Innovation and Sustainable Development in Kunshan, Suzhou. With the theme “Empowering Mining Development and Supporting Chinese-style Modernization,” the forum aims to effectively leverage its platform role, promote industry exchanges and cooperation, achieve cross-sector integration, and foster innovation and sustainable development in the mining sector. The opening ceremony was chaired by Peng Qiming, President of the China Mining Association.
At the special forum, Li Feng, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Territorial Spatial Planning at the Ministry of Natural Resources, introduced the process of integrating multiple plans into a single plan and the establishment of the territorial spatial planning system. He emphasized that the three control lines—namely, the red line for arable land and permanent basic farmland, the ecological protection red line, and the urban development boundary—are the bottom lines for the development and protection of territorial space. He also proposed that in the preparation and implementation management of territorial spatial planning under the “five-level, three-category” framework (i.e., five levels—national, provincial, municipal, county, and township—and three categories—general planning, detailed planning, and related specialized plans)—mineral resource exploration and utilization should be comprehensively considered to support and ensure the sustainable development of the mining industry.
