Xi Jinping pointed out that Asia-Pacific countries have become deeply integrated into economic globalization, forming a community of shared interests and a community with a shared future, where everyone prospers together and suffers together. At the same time, the world has entered a new period of turbulence and profound change, and economic globalization is facing a severe test: to go against the current or risk falling behind. As to where the Asia-Pacific economy should head next, we must make a choice.

Xi Jinping pointed out that economic globalization is an objective requirement for the development of social productive forces and an inevitable outcome of scientific and technological progress. Although it has encountered headwinds and setbacks along the way, its overall development trend has never changed. To deliberately separate an interconnected world under various pretexts is to reverse the course of history. The more challenging the times, the more firmly we must maintain our confidence. We must correctly steer the direction of economic globalization, work together to promote inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization, and help usher in a new stage of economic globalization that is more dynamic, more inclusive, and more sustainable—thus better benefiting countries and different groups around the world.

First, we must uphold innovation-driven development and promote robust growth of the global economy. Adhering to the principle that scientific and technological achievements should benefit all humanity, we will help developing countries strengthen their capacity-building in science and technology and facilitate the global flow of knowledge and technology.

Second, we must remain committed to keeping pace with the times and promoting reform of the global economic governance system. Adhering to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, we should continuously enhance the representation and voice of the Global South, ensuring that all countries enjoy equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal rules in international economic cooperation. We should also promote the building of an open world economic system and safeguard the stability and smooth functioning of global industrial and supply chains.

Third, we must adhere to a people-centered approach and promote the resolution of imbalances in development. Global prosperity and stability cannot be built on a foundation where the poor grow poorer and the rich grow richer; only common development among all countries constitutes true development. We must pursue a path of economic globalization that is people-centered, more balanced in its development, and more equitable in its opportunities—ensuring that people from different countries, different social strata, and different groups can all share in the fruits of development.

Xi Jinping emphasized that over the past 30 years, the Asia-Pacific region has maintained robust economic growth, creating the globally acclaimed “Asia-Pacific Miracle.” The success of the Asia-Pacific region stems from our unwavering commitment to safeguarding regional peace and stability, our steadfast adherence to genuine multilateralism and open regionalism, and our consistent alignment with the overarching trend of economic globalization—while upholding mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, and mutual achievement. The Asia-Pacific region must continue to serve as the driving force behind economic globalization, uphold integrity while fostering innovation, further enhance its golden brand of an open and inclusive Asia-Pacific, forge new hallmarks of a green and digital Asia-Pacific, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for the Asia-Pacific, thus ushering in the next “golden thirty years” of Asia-Pacific development.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has laid out a systematic plan for further comprehensively deepening reform and advancing Chinese-style modernization. China will continue to deepen reform in a comprehensive manner and keep injecting strong momentum into the global economy. China is fully confident in achieving this year’s economic growth target and will continue to play its role as the world’s largest engine of economic growth. China will promote high-quality development, develop new forms of productive forces suited to local conditions, advance high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and continue to lead the global economy in enhancing quality and efficiency. China will unswervingly pursue the path of green development, continue to provide important impetus for the global green transition, and make significant contributions to the global response to climate change. China will build a new system of a higher-level open economy, introduce more policies for autonomous and unilateral opening-up, expand its network of high-standard free trade zones oriented toward the world, and continue to share China’s development opportunities with the world.
