Indonesia Plans to Cut Nickel Ore Production Targets

According to a report by Mining.com on January 6, Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia recently stated that the country is currently studying annual nickel ore mining targets in an effort to curb the downward trend in nickel prices. It is understood that last year, Indonesia had approved a mining target of 240 million tons per year through 2026. Subsequently, in order to stem the decline in nickel prices, the country plans to reduce its annual mining output to 150 million tons. Data shows that since the ban on nickel ore exports in 2020, Indonesia has become one of the world’s largest producers of nickel products.
