For young consumers, what they seek in gold jewelry is no longer just an item that holds its value. Instead, they’re drawn to its design and uniqueness. For consumers born after 1995, after trying on several gold bracelets, they were deeply impressed by their stylish designs. Compared to traditional gold jewelry, today’s bracelet styles are remarkably diverse, incorporating vintage-inspired elements such as plain bands, lotus pods, and bamboo joints—each offering a fresh and innovative look.
Recently, reporters visited offline stores of several gold jewelry brands—including Laopu Gold, Chow Tai Fook, and Chow Sang Sang—and found that concepts such as traditional craftsmanship and "national trend" are gradually becoming hot topics in the gold jewelry industry. Notably, at the start of the new year, Laopu Gold sparked widespread discussion on social media platforms due to headlines like “Queuing for Hours,” “Million-Yuan Jewelry Snatched Up in Minutes,” and “Out-of-Towners Rush to Shanghai to Buy Laopu Gold.”
Industry insiders point out that, judging from consumption trends in gold and jewelry, in recent years, with the rise of “Guochao” (China-inspired trends), the new Chinese style and Eastern aesthetics have become hotspots of consumer interest. In recent years, the gold and jewelry industry has been undergoing a major cycle of brand transformation and upgrading. Consumers are now paying more attention to product innovation and differentiation. Companies that demonstrate exceptional aesthetic sensibility, outstanding craftsmanship, and a continuous commitment to enhancing both brand strength and product quality will gain a competitive edge in the fiercely competitive market.
In recent years, as gold jewelry brands embracing traditional craftsmanship and “national trends” have gained popularity, gold jewelry companies have promptly adjusted their production and business strategies to drive product innovation.
“The company’s flagship brand is ‘Caibai Jewelry.’ At the same time, driven by consumers’ growing appreciation for traditional gold craftsmanship and their increasing desire to ‘treat themselves,’ the company has adopted a multi-brand strategic approach, stepping up efforts to nurture two sub-brands: ‘Caibai Chuanshi,’ which focuses on traditional gold products, and ‘Caibai Yuetime,’ which specializes in fashionable, affordable luxury jewelry,” stated Caibai Shares in its investor relations activity record released on February 10.
“Our newly launched gold brocade weaving technique for the Year of the Dragon and Year of the Snake zodiac-themed collections is designed to meet fashion-conscious consumers’ desire for artisanal craftsmanship. To attract younger consumer groups, in recent years the company has continuously expanded its development and marketing of co-branded products, gaining valuable practical experience in rejuvenating the brand and laying a solid foundation for further advancing our brand rejuvenation strategy,” said Laofengxiang during an institutional research visit in December 2024. Looking ahead, the company will continue to innovate and invest in R&D, constantly introducing fresh ideas and innovations across the design, development, production, and marketing of products such as gold and silver jewelry and large-scale cultural and educational items, striving to set trends in jewelry consumption and boost overall consumer spending. The industry is gradually undergoing transformation and upgrading.
Dongwu Securities analysis indicates that, judging from consumption trends in gold, jewelry, and accessories, in recent years, with the rise of "Guochao" (China-inspired trends), New Chinese style and Eastern aesthetics have become hotspots of consumer interest. On platforms such as Douyin and Xiaohongshu, discussions about Eastern aesthetics have surged in popularity. Among the most popular elements are fans, gourds, and butterflies. We can also observe that gold and jewelry brands have been developing products that effectively incorporate these elements.
“With the boost from rising gold prices, differentiated-product companies such as Laopu Gold have shown impressive performance. Companies with strong channel advantages—such as Chow Tai Fook, Lao Feng Xiang, and Chow Sang Sang—are also actively embracing new trends, focusing on pricing products and enhancing both product quality and brand strength,” according to an analysis by Tianfeng Securities.
“We believe that as the benefits from traditional distribution channels gradually diminish, the gold and jewelry industry is undergoing a major transformation—from a channel-driven model to one centered on product innovation and differentiation. Consumers are now placing greater emphasis on the innovation and uniqueness of the products themselves. Companies with superior product designs—those that are small yet exquisite—are taking the lead and standing out from the crowd. For instance, brands like Laopu Gold have fueled the resurgence of traditional gold craftsmanship, while Chow Hong Kee’s bead jewelry has become increasingly popular among young consumers. Even established industry leaders are actively adapting to these industry shifts and driving upgrades in both their products and brands,” added Tianfeng Securities.
