On March 13, local time, the World Trade Organization announced that it had received a request from Canada seeking WTO dispute consultations with the United States regarding the U.S. imposition of import tariffs on certain steel and aluminum products originating from Canada. The request was distributed to WTO members on the 13th. The Trump administration in the United States introduced tariff measures imposing a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the U.S., and these measures officially took effect on March 12.
