On March 20, the 2025 (4th) China International Mining Investment and Development Summit was held in Beijing. With the theme “Based on China’s Mining Industry—Unlocking New Market Opportunities,” the summit focused on global mining industry trends under the new circumstances, as well as the production and sales dynamics of popular mineral products. It also explored the investment potential of globally hot-spot mining regions and shared successful cases and experiences in domestic and international mining investments.
Che Changbo, Secretary-General of the China Mining Association, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Ju Jianhua, former Director of the Mineral Resources Protection Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and head of the China Association of Mining Rights Appraisers, Wang Jingbin, Chief Geologist of Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd., and Chen Jiabin, Director of the Institute of Mineral Resource Economics at the China Institute for Natural Resources Economics, delivered keynote speeches. Zuo Geng, Chief Expert at the Economic Research Institute of China Minmetals Corporation, delivered a keynote speech and also chaired the opening ceremony and the main forum.
In his speech, Vehicle Chief Bo pointed out that mineral resources—whether in the past, present, or future—have always been the “industrial grain” and “lifeblood” driving the development and progress of human society. The integration of capital into the mining industry will inevitably generate significant spillover effects, exerting a positive and profound impact on the sustainable, healthy, and high-quality development of the mining sector. This will promote increased reserves and higher production of mineral resources, expand the industrial and supply chains associated with these resources, ensure national energy and resource security, and enhance global capacity for the allocation of mineral resources.
Director Che Changbo emphasized that, given the current complex international context, Chinese mining enterprises must unswervingly pursue internationalization, with particular focus on countries along the Belt and Road, and strengthen cooperation with resource-rich regions such as Africa and South America. By adopting diverse forms of collaboration—including investment, talent development, technology transfer, and equipment provision—Chinese enterprises can achieve mutual benefit, complementary strengths, and win-win outcomes.
During the conference, experts from the international mining research community presented their latest findings on global mining trends. Economists and industry specialists discussed the macroeconomic outlook and industry development trends. Participants engaged in an in-depth discussion of the current status and demand in the markets for energy minerals, precious metal minerals, bulk minerals, and strategic emerging minerals. They analyzed price trends for key mineral commodities such as precious metals, copper, lithium, cobalt, nickel, iron ore, and coal. Representatives from companies involved in overseas mining projects shared successful case studies of global mining investments and explored critical topics including mining investment and M&A, policy environments, and risk management. Representatives from countries including Tajikistan, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Afghanistan also made presentations on mining investment opportunities and mineral rights projects.
This conference attracted more than 300 representatives from major mining companies, industry associations, relevant research institutions, and financial institutions, providing industry enterprises with information support on market trends and investment opportunities, and establishing a platform for collaboration.
