Shandong Gold Mining (Linglong) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Linglong Gold Mine) is located at the foot of Luoshan Mountain, on the border between Zhaoyuan City and Longkou City in the central part of the Shandong Peninsula, and is renowned as the “Pearl of the Golden City.”
Linglong Gold Mine was established on July 1, 1962, and successively came under the jurisdiction of the Shandong Provincial Department of Heavy Industry, the Shandong Metallurgical Industry Bureau, and the State Metallurgical Industry Ministry. In January 1988, it was reorganized as a large-scale second-class state-owned enterprise directly under the provincial government. In July 1997, it became one of the core enterprises of Shandong Gold Group. In November 2007, it was acquired and listed by Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. In February 2010, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary listed under Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd.
The Linglong gold mining field has a long history of gold extraction, with gold mining activities dating back as early as the Spring and Autumn Period. According to historical records, in 1007 AD, Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty dispatched high-ranking officials to Linglong to oversee gold mining operations. Subsequently, emperors from successive dynasties all sent emissaries to Linglong to establish gold mines. In February 1939, Japan occupied the Linglong gold mine by force and began large-scale, predatory mining operations that continued until the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan. In July 1962, the People's Committee of Shandong Province decided to merge the Jianhua and Shenghua gold mines in Zhaoyuan County to form the Zhaoyuan Gold Mine. By July 1967, two production systems—Lingshan and Linglong—had been completed, establishing a comprehensive mining and beneficiation capacity of 600 tons per day. At that time, the Zhaoyuan Gold Mine became the largest gold mine in the country, and its gold output ranked first among all gold mines nationwide for 23 consecutive years.
For more than 50 years, thanks to the concerted efforts and hard work of several generations of employees, Linglong Gold Mine has continuously grown stronger and expanded its scale. From the mine’s inception up to December 1988, over a period of 26 years, its cumulative gold production surpassed the milestone of one million taels; by February 2006, after another 18-year span, its cumulative gold output had exceeded the second milestone of one million taels. On May 16, 2016, just ten years later, the mine successfully broke through the third milestone of one million taels. Then, on November 16, 2017, Linglong Gold Mine’s cumulative gold production surpassed 100 tons, reaching yet another new peak in gold production and adding a brilliant highlight to its reputation as the “Pearl of the Golden City.” Over the years, the mine has received more than 200 honors and titles, including “Shandong Province Meritorious Enterprise,” “Advanced Collective” recognized for outstanding contributions to the development of the gold industry during the national Seventh Five-Year Plan, Eighth Five-Year Plan, Tenth Five-Year Plan, and Eleventh Five-Year Plan periods, as well as the national “May Day Labor Award,” “Model Workers’ Home,” and “Top Ten Gold Mines in China.” The mine has also completed over 1,200 scientific research and technological innovation projects, sent more than 500 science and technology and management professionals to higher authorities and sister mines, and made remarkable contributions to the development of China’s gold industry.
Currently, Linglong Gold Mine has 3 mining areas, 3 directly affiliated units, and 12 functional departments, with a current workforce of over 2,300 employees. Under the correct leadership of Shandong Gold Group, Linglong Gold Mine upholds the “Linglong Spirit”—“sincere unity, willingness to take responsibility, fearlessness in the face of difficulties, and constant pursuit of excellence”—pooling collective wisdom and harnessing collective strength to jointly build a happy and beautiful new Linglong, and relentlessly striving to become a first-class mine.
