This newspaper reports (Reporter: Wang Qiongjie) that, during the Two Sessions, a reporter from China Mining News learned that the revision of the Mineral Resources Law has been included in the legislative plan of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress. In addition, work on revising the Surveying and Mapping Law, drafting the Law on Exploration and Development of Resources in Deep-Sea Seabed Areas, and drafting the Nuclear Safety Law are all progressing smoothly.
　　It is understood that, since last year, the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress has played a leading role in legislation, actively promoting legislative efforts related to ecological civilization. The committee has cooperated with the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to complete the revision and deliberation of the Environmental Protection Law, advanced the revision of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law, initiated the drafting of the Soil Pollution Prevention and Control Law, accelerated the revision of the Wildlife Conservation Law, and undertaken legislative work on the exploration and development of resources in deep-sea seabed areas as well as the drafting of the Nuclear Safety Law.
　　Meanwhile, the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress has also been steadily advancing its oversight work. It has cooperated with the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in hearing and deliberating on the State Council’s report on energy conservation and emission reduction efforts; conducted enforcement inspections of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law and special research on soil pollution prevention; carried out a special study on the implementation of the Circular Economy Promotion Law; and organized publicity activities for the “China Environmental Century Journey.”
　　It is reported that this year, the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress will strengthen legislation in key areas, actively promote scientific and democratic legislation, and perform well in drafting laws, cooperating with deliberations, and engaging in early-stage involvement. The committee will continue to cooperate with the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in reviewing the draft amendments to the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law, ensure that the draft amendment to the Wildlife Protection Law—led by the committee—is submitted to the Standing Committee for review on schedule, and continue to support the Standing Committee in its deliberations on the draft amendments to the Surveying and Mapping Law. Meanwhile, the committee will remain focused on advancing the drafting of the Soil Pollution Prevention and Control Law, the Law on Exploration and Development of Deep-Sea Seabed Resources, and the Nuclear Safety Law. It will also actively engage in early-stage involvement and communication regarding the proposed amendments to the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law and the Mineral Resources Law.
