To support the nation’s strategy for developing emerging industries and to implement the strategic cooperation agreement on science and technology development between the China Geological Survey and the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Geology and Exploration, the Institute of Geomechanics of the China Geological Survey, in collaboration with the Ninth Geological Team of the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Geology and Exploration, has launched the project titled “Analysis of Ore-Controlling Structures and Mineral Prospecting Prediction for Fluorite Deposits in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province.” This project closely integrates research activities with exploration efforts. The Huzhou area in Zhejiang Province boasts highly favorable conditions for fluorite mineralization. Small and large fluorite deposits are scattered throughout the region, and a large-scale fluorite mine has already been discovered. 4 Individual small- and medium-sized mineral (or mineralization) occurrences 30 Multiple entities—the Institute of Geomechanics and the Ninth Geological Team of the Zhejiang Bureau of Geological Exploration—are collaborating on the project “Analysis of Ore-Controlling Structures and Prospecting Prediction for Fluorite Deposits in Huzhou, Zhejiang.” This project aims to establish a mineral exploration structural model centered on ore-controlling structures through a scientific assessment of fluorite resources in northern Zhejiang. The model will guide deep and peripheral prospecting efforts, thereby providing resource support for the development of strategic emerging industries.
During this field expedition, in response to the structural and ore deposit issues identified in previous studies, we first conducted a detailed investigation of the structural controls governing the large-scale fluorite deposits at Yinzi Mountain and Yu Village in Deqing County, Huzhou City. We also carried out on-site teaching sessions to identify fracture-controlled mineralization characteristics and determine the mechanical properties of fractures. Secondly, we conducted field surveys on the metallogenic and ore-controlling factors of the Dayinshan gold deposit. Employing the theory of structural-system-controlled mineralization and dynamic rock-forming and mineralization processes, as well as the “three-in-one” exploration zone mineral prospecting prediction theory and methodology, we preliminarily delineated the geological bodies associated with gold mineralization.
During this field study, academic discussions were conducted from the perspectives of petrology, ore deposit geology, and structural geology, thereby enhancing our fundamental geological understanding of the mining area.
