At the end of the last working day of 2016, on the evening of December 30, the company’s annual gala for 2016—featuring a display and selection of employee photography works as well as an awards ceremony—was held at the newly opened Minglan Restaurant. Approximately forty people attended the gala and ceremony, including all employees from the company headquarters (including retired veterans), their family members, invited guests, and employees from the Fujian-Ganjiang branch.
This year, the company specially invited leaders from the Zhejiang Provincial Geological Society and the Zhejiang Provincial Ornamental Stone Society, as well as post-90s new employees from the Fujian-Guangdong branch, to participate in the year-end event.
The “2015-2016 Company Employee Photography Exhibition and Selection” event organized by the company’s trade union featured 80 entries submitted voluntarily by 16 employees. Among these, 56 entries were selected for the selection series, while 24 entries were chosen for the exhibition series. For the selection series, the company’s trade union invited professional photographers from the photography community to set qualification ratios based on subject matter and then selected 12 shortlisted entries from all the voluntarily submitted works as candidates for awards. The exhibition series was evaluated and reviewed by the company’s trade union, which chose 6 shortlisted entries from the corresponding voluntarily submitted works as nominees for special awards. According to the selection rules, the final winners were determined through a joint vote by all employees, their family members, and specially invited guests present at the event.
Before the on-site voting began, 18 shortlisted works were displayed. While the vote count was being conducted backstage, all exhibited works were shown, and the artists were invited to introduce their pieces and share their insights with the audience.
At the award ceremony, representatives of family members present, company and union leaders, and special guests were invited to present awards to the authors who had won third prize, second prize, first prize, and the Special Award, respectively.
After the award ceremony concluded, Wang Ji, Chairman of the company, delivered a New Year’s speech. He began by reviewing the company’s overall performance in 2016 through the “Five New” framework, and then presented everyone with his New Year’s message and toast for 2017.
The “Five New” aspects reviewed for 2016 are:
In terms of the company’s business: a new turning point has emerged;
In terms of the practice environment: new changes have occurred;
In terms of business deployment: a new company has been established;
In terms of human resources: new talent has been recruited;
In terms of employees’ personal lives, another employee has become a bride and groom.
In implementing the "Asset Valuation Law," new requirements have been proposed—known as the "Five Shoulds and Five Shouldn'ts":
You shouldn't take what you shouldn't, but you must take what you should.
What shouldn’t be done, shouldn’t be done; what should be done, must be done.
What shouldn't be said must not be said; what should be said must be said.
What shouldn't be written must not be written; what should be written must be written.
What shouldn’t be created shouldn’t be created; what should be created must be created.
The 2017 New Year’s Message, also known as “the Two Don’ts”
No matter how Trump, Ampere, or water spinach may stir things up, we’ll keep our footing and eat well as always!
No matter what, development is still the paramount principle!
