In recent years, the Aksu region of Xinjiang has leveraged its resource endowments, focusing on the efficient exploration and utilization of mineral resources. It has coordinated and promoted geological surveys, green mine construction, and the development of the entire industrial chain, thereby providing a solid resource foundation for the region’s high-quality economic development.
Focusing on the strategic positioning of mineral resources, the Aksu Regional Bureau of Natural Resources convened a meeting to advance the new round of strategic actions for breakthroughs in mineral exploration. The meeting conducted an in-depth analysis of resource distribution patterns and the foundations for industrial development, and scientifically formulated exploration and development plans. By deepening research into ore-forming theories, optimizing exploration layouts, and innovating technological approaches, we will accelerate the establishment of green mining industry clusters and strive to build Aksu into a leading demonstration zone for mineral resource development in southern Xinjiang.
Previously, the 2025 Xinjiang Mineral Rights Promotion Conference was successfully held in the Aksu region, during which a total of 171 mineral rights were prominently introduced, attracting the participation of more than 240 mining companies and financial institutions from across the country. Among these, 75 exploration rights (covering a total area of 3,443 square kilometers) encompass 19 types of minerals, including coal, gold, copper, oil and gas, and key resources such as the oil-and-gas block in Aksu City.
Leveraging the pairing assistance mechanism for Xinjiang, the Aksu Regional Administrative Office, in collaboration with the Zhejiang Province Xinjiang Aid Command and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Natural Resources, convened a promotion meeting titled “The Qianchao Surges Toward Tianshan and Tuofeng: Innovating Quality—Collaboratively Building a Green Mining Full Industry Chain and Accelerating the Development of a Green Mining Cluster.” Relying on Zhejiang Province’s strengths in specialized technologies, funding, and talent in mineral resource exploration and development, the two sides will deepen cooperation in areas such as intelligent mining, efficient resource utilization, sophisticated processing, and talent cultivation. This collaboration will drive the upgrading of Aksu’s mining industry toward high-end, green, and intensive development, enabling mutual benefits and win-win outcomes for both Zhejiang and Aksu, Xinjiang.
Currently, the exploration breakthrough initiative in the Aksu region is beginning to yield tangible results. First, strategic partnerships have been established with the China Metallurgical Geology Bureau, the Geological Bureau of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Resources Group, leading to the initial identification of more than 20 prospective exploration areas and accelerating the advancement of basic geological surveys. Second, 14 mining rights have been successfully listed for public auction, generating revenues of 1.096 billion yuan; additionally, the listing process for another 23 mining rights is steadily progressing. Third, new breakthroughs have been achieved in geological surveys and mineral exploration in regions such as Wushi County and Baicheng County, and field exploration activities are proceeding smoothly.
