On June 12, the promotion conference for the 2025 Xinjiang mineral rights transfer projects was held in Urumqi, featuring a centralized presentation of 162 mineral rights transfer projects.
The reporter learned from the scene that the projects selected for this promotion event cover major minerals such as oil and gas, coal, copper, gold, and nickel. Each block has been carefully screened and boasts favorable geological conditions for mineralization, promising exploration prospects, and significant resource potential.
Among these, there are 23 energy and mineral resources, including 13 oil and gas resources and 10 coal resources; 135 metallic mineral resources, including 47 gold (and silver) resources, 54 copper (and nickel) resources, 5 lead-zinc resources, 26 iron (and vanadium-titanium) resources, 2 manganese resources, and 1 rare metal (rubidium) resource; and 4 non-metallic mineral resources, including 2 graphite resources, 1 bentonite resource, and 1 fluorite resource.
Xinjiang is rich in mineral resources and boasts enormous development potential. To date, 154 types of minerals have been discovered, and reserves of 103 of these minerals have been confirmed. Xinjiang is one of the few provinces in China that boasts a relatively complete range of mineral resources, and it also serves as a strategic base for ensuring the nation’s energy resource supply.
Sun Jizhou, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Department of Natural Resources, stated that in recent years, Xinjiang has been focusing on building itself into a strategic base for national energy and resource security. Leveraging its unique resource endowments, Xinjiang has invested substantial human, material, and financial resources into the in-depth implementation of a new round of mineral exploration initiatives. As a result, a number of large, high-quality, and urgently needed mineral deposits have been newly discovered, and significant additional reserves of important mineral resources have been identified. The number of mining rights granted, the transaction value, and the revenue generated from these transactions have all repeatedly reached record highs.
