As Russia’s largest diamond mining and processing company, Alrosa hopes to further expand into the Chinese market.
Zarkov stated that the Eurasian Diamond Center, established in the Free Port of Vladivostok, is a large-scale cluster comprising diamond mining enterprises, companies engaged in the processing and sale of finished diamonds and jewelry, appraisal centers, banks, insurance companies, specialized logistics providers, as well as customs and regulatory authorities. Leveraging the advantages of the Free Port, the center conducts import and export transactions of diamonds and finished diamond products aimed at the Asia-Pacific market. The total investment in the project amounts to... 4.5 hundred million rubles (approximately 4600 10,000 RMB). Currently, the center covers an area of 2000 square meters, including production areas, office spaces, customs facilities, exhibition centers, sales platforms, and warehousing platforms. Zarkov pointed out that China is the world’s second-largest consumer of diamond jewelry. Among all diamond-producing countries, Russia is currently China’s largest supplier. Russian natural diamonds are highly regarded for their superior quality and are favored by Chinese jewelry manufacturers. It is expected that trade volumes in this sector will increase significantly over the next three to five years. Therefore, in line with Alrosa’s sales strategy, the Chinese market will be its top priority for expansion. The company believes that both sides have tremendous potential for broadening cooperation and boosting both the extraction of diamond raw materials and the volume of finished-product transactions.
