8 Moon 30 On the morning of the day, “The Chinese Stone Catalog,” hailed as today’s encyclopedic compendium of stone appreciation culture, was solemnly launched at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People’s Congress; Zhou Tienong, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Eleventh National People’s Congress; and Wang Min, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, attended the launch ceremony and jointly inaugurated the event with... “ Bookish Charm of Stone Appreciation ” The fifth national series of events dedicated to the theme of stone appreciation.

　　According to the introduction, the book “Chinese Stone Catalogue” was given its title by Wen Jiabao, former Premier of the State Council. It consists of two sections and six volumes, including four main parts: “A Historical Study of Chinese Appreciation Stone Culture,” “An Overview of Chinese Stone Catalogue Literature Through the Ages,” “The Distribution of China’s Ornamental Stone Resources,” and “An Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Ornamental Stones.” This work comprehensively summarizes and documents the historical development of Chinese appreciation stone culture, deeply explores the essence of appreciation stone culture embedded in stone catalogues of past dynasties, and fully showcases the cultural significance and artistic charm of ornamental stones. The publication of this book was made possible thanks to the strong support from people from all walks of life, especially numerous institutions within the geology and mining sector, over a period of time. 4 The organization completed the compilation this year.

Nearly a thousand professionals from the ornamental stone community across the country came together to witness this cultural milestone, jointly celebrated by both the ornamental stone industry and the publishing industry.
