Later, experts in the Tibetan jade market discovered a type of jadeite originating from Canada that, in terms of texture, color, and purity, slightly outperforms Hetian jadeite.

Since Canadian jade was introduced to China, it has dealt a significant blow to the sales of Hotan jade. Yet, when the same jade pieces—Canadian jade and Hotan jade—are displayed side by side on the counter, it’s the Canadian jade that sells better, and its price continues to rise steadily. For a long time, there have been countless misconceptions about collecting Hetian jade. Just now, we mentioned that not all Hetian jade is of high quality. Now, let’s talk about why Hetian jade “seed material” isn’t necessarily more expensive than “mountain material.” Why do we say this?

As you can see, these seed materials don’t have good color or aesthetic appeal, and their texture isn’t particularly fine either. This is one of the lower-quality types of seed material. Typically, such seed materials fetch only a few dozen yuan per piece. So it’s not always the case that seed materials are high-quality. The piece I’m holding here is a mountain-cultivated Hetian jade. As you can see, although it’s a mountain-cultivated material, its texture is remarkably smooth and delicate, and its color is exceptionally pure white—almost reaching the quality of mutton-fat jade. Compared to the more common white jade, black jade is far rarer and possesses a much heavier, more solemn aura—hence, many people prefer collecting black jade. They believe that black jade has the greatest potential for appreciation in value. But is this really the case?

Actually, that’s not the case.
