500 meters! China’s first set of intelligent scraper conveyor equipment for ultra-long working faces in coal mines has been delivered and put into use.

On August 4, China delivered to users a complete set of intelligent scraper conveyors—model SGZ1000/5000—with a length of 500 meters, independently developed by China. This is the country’s first domestically produced coal mining conveyor equipment designed to meet the requirements of ultra-long working faces up to 500 meters in medium-to-thick coal seams. Its key technical parameters and performance indicators have reached internationally leading levels.
The complete set of equipment was independently researched, designed, and manufactured by the China National Coal Group. Specifically, Zhongmei Zhangjiakou Coal Mining Machinery Co., Ltd. conducted a year-long feasibility study, followed by comprehensive scheme design, overall supporting scheme design, innovative design of key components, and product design, all tailored to the actual operating conditions and mining requirements of the Xinshanghai No. 1 Coal Mine owned by Shandong Energy Inner Mongolia Mining Company. For the first time, the technical team has overcome the technological bottleneck in intelligent scraper conveyor systems for working faces with transportation distances exceeding 500 meters. The equipment boasts a conveying capacity of 3,000 tons per hour, fully meeting the supporting mining demands of a single working face with an annual output of 10 million tons. The expected service life of the entire machine exceeds 50 million tons. Guided by the design philosophy of low consumption and high efficiency, the equipment significantly reduces both the investment payback ratio and the tonnage-based equipment wear rate. As a result, the number of fully mechanized mining faces can be reduced by approximately 30%. After implementation, this will lead to substantial savings in capital investments related to roadway development, roadway support, mining equipment, and associated personnel deployment, thereby achieving remarkable improvements in production efficiency and resource recovery rates. This will effectively ensure the sustained and stable production of coal energy in China.
For the first time in China, this equipment has achieved fully domestic development in the high-end coal mine conveying equipment sector. Key technologies, critical components, and control systems—including a single-motor 2,500-kW high-power integrated intelligent drive system with variable frequency—have all been domestically produced. The high-power reducer independently developed by our company boasts an expected service life of over 60,000 hours and can be equipped with control units tailored to specific needs, enabling automatic sensing, intelligent operation, and smart monitoring. The overall machine design is aligned with the goals of peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, leveraging our proprietary technologies to support a low-carbon upgrade of coal production systems.
Moreover, the mathematical model of multi-parameter dynamic composite forces for scraper components—built upon an improved genetic algorithm—provides a solid foundation for precisely optimizing the chain pitch of scraper assemblies. In response to the actual operating conditions of co-mingling coal and gangue mining, comprehensive optimization of the composition ratios of casting materials for chute sidewalls has been achieved through multi-dimensional simulation experiments... Such original technologies have significantly enhanced the overall performance, reliability, intelligence level, and energy-saving and efficiency-improving capabilities of complete sets of equipment, showcasing “Chinese wisdom” and offering brand-new, domestically produced high-end equipment solutions that ensure coal supply stability, secure our energy security, and firmly put us in control of our energy future.
