Domestic molybdenum concentrate prices hit a new high in nearly 13 years.

According to information from Fubao Information, the domestic molybdenum market has recently shown strong performance. On September 15, a bid for 510 tons of molybdenum concentrate with a grade of over 50% from a mine in Henan was awarded at a price ranging from 2,915 yuan/ton-degree to 2,940 yuan/ton-degree, reaching a new high in nearly 13 years. According to Fubao Information’s calculations, the production cost of ferromolybdenum has risen to above 190,000 yuan per ton. Recently, domestic steel mills have continued to enter the market and place tenders for ferromolybdenum procurement, driving both volume and prices in the ferromolybdenum market higher. Given the tight supply of raw molybdenum concentrate, the molybdenum market is expected to remain at elevated levels in the short term.
