Australia: Mining exploration investment rose 4.5% year-on-year in the second quarter.

Recently, the Australian Bureau of Statistics released data showing that in the second quarter of 2022, Australia’s investment in mining exploration increased by A$44.5 million (approximately US$30.19 million), bringing the total to over A$1.02 billion (approximately US$690 million)—a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.
Looking at different mineral types, Australia’s exploration investments in iron ore, nickel, and cobalt increased by 44%, 24%, and 24% respectively year-on-year in the second quarter of this year. By state, the country’s mining exploration investments in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland rose by 14%, 1%, and 9% year-on-year, respectively; while investments in South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, and the Northern Territory increased by 16%, 28%, 92%, and 48% year-on-year, respectively. During the same period, the country’s greenfield exploration investments grew by 2% year-on-year.
