According to a report by Mining.com, citing Reuters, on the 26th, Chile’s National Copper Committee (Cochilco), the world’s largest copper-producing country, stated that the country’s mining investments from 2023 to 2032 are expected to reach US$65.71 billion.
Cochilco stated that, compared to last year’s forecast of $73.65 billion in investments over 10 years, this latest projection has been revised downward—mainly because the previous forecast covered 53 projects, whereas this one covers only 49 projects.
According to the committee’s data, copper mining projects are expected to attract investments totaling 57.35 billion U.S. dollars, ranking first. Investments in gold, iron ore, lithium, and other industrial mineral projects are projected to reach 8.36 billion U.S. dollars.
