Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially released Announcement No. 18 of 2024, which prominently includes 48 important industry standards under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Metallurgical Equipment (SAC/TC409). This marks a solid step forward in China’s standardization efforts in the fields of heavy machinery and metallurgical equipment. The newly released industry standards cover extensively key areas such as smelting, strip and sheet rolling and finishing, forging and extrusion, pipe and bar rolling, as well as specialized hydraulic and lubrication systems for metallurgy, laying a robust foundation for technological advancement, industrial upgrading, and enhanced product quality in these sectors.
As a directly affiliated technical committee approved by the National Standardization Administration Committee, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Metallurgical Equipment is hosted by China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Heavy Machinery Institute”). The secretariat operates efficiently and is committed to promoting the standardization process in the fields related to heavy machinery and metallurgical equipment. The Technical Committee not only oversees 34 national standards and 404 industry standards, but also continues to deepen its research and development efforts. Currently, it has 9 national standards and 41 industry standards under development, fully demonstrating its foresight and leadership in the industry’s standardization work.
Since 2020, the National Technical Committee for Metallurgical Equipment Standards has accelerated its efforts to revise and develop standards, having cumulatively approved 12 national standard plans and 59 industry standard plans, with remarkable results. In particular, since this year, the committee has actively organized and successfully submitted three national standard plans: "General Technical Requirements for Networked Collaborative Manufacturing of Metallurgical Equipment," "Design Specifications for Electrical Control Systems of Heavy Machinery," and "Specifications for Extrusion Forming of Self-Consuming Electrodes for Titanium and Titanium Alloys." These innovative standard projects not only promote technological innovation in the metallurgical equipment and heavy machinery industries but also inject strong momentum into the optimization and upgrading of the industrial chain, highlighting the committee’s pivotal role in fostering high-quality industrial development.
As the secretariat unit of the Standards Committee, the China Heavy Machinery Research Institute has always upheld its industry mission, promoting the implementation of various standardization efforts with high standards and stringent requirements. This has provided solid support and guarantees for the sustained and healthy development of China’s metallurgical equipment and heavy machinery industries. In the future, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Metallurgical Equipment will continue to work closely with industry experts to jointly explore new approaches to standardization, thereby contributing to the prosperity and advancement of China’s metallurgical equipment and heavy machinery sectors.
