Sweden: Three drilling targets have been identified for the Olivesk Lithium Project.

According to a report by Mining South East Europe on August 14, 2024, Ragnar Metals has identified three drilling targets and scheduled corresponding follow-up work following its most recent field exploration at the Orrvik lithium project in Sweden. The latest rock geochemical survey results from the site have revealed several promising lithium mineralization zones.
The exploration activities have yielded the following major discoveries:
1. A pegmatite outcrop measuring 50 meters wide and 100 meters long has been discovered in the Anundsbole area. Traces of lithium phosphate minerals have been found there, suggesting that the deeper parts of the outcrop may represent a potential spodumene deposit.
2. Geochemical data and regional geological maps of the Stenback area indicate that the region is characterized by four sets of pegmatite dikes striking nearly vertically in a northwest-southeast direction. Among these, two sets exhibit better mineralization potential and show more pronounced spodumene mineralization. Previously reported samples from this area have been found to contain lithium oxide concentrations as high as 1.7%.
3. In the Orrvik area, a pegmatite vein measuring 8 meters in width has been identified, containing large-grained spodumene crystals. Early geochemical data indicate that this vein has a lithium oxide content exceeding 1.2%. The company believes that previous drilling efforts targeting this northeast-northeast–trending mineralized vein were misguided and underestimated the region’s mineral potential.
Currently, Red Metal has raised US$9.47 million and has obtained all necessary permits and approvals, preparing to conduct drilling at these three locations. It is now awaiting quotes from drilling contractors.
Executive Director Eddie King expressed strong confidence in the company’s strategy, noting that recent geochemical test results and field surveys have only reinforced their conviction.
From 2023 to 2026, global lithium demand is expected to grow at an annual rate of 17%, driven by the increasing global adoption of electric vehicles. Despite a gradual weakening in China’s lithium demand and policy changes in the U.S. and the EU that could affect the growth of electric vehicle sales, Sweden’s Department of International Industrial, Scientific and Resource Affairs (DISR) stated in its June 2024 “Resources and Energy Quarterly” that the anticipated continued increase in global lithium supply will likely lead to a long-term market surplus.
The Olieweek lithium project covers an area of 36 square kilometers and boasts promising lithium resources. The area extends into Finland’s renowned Kaustinen lithium mineralization province.
