Chile's copper production in October increased by 6.7% year-on-year.

According to a report by Mining.com, citing Bloomberg, the latest data from Chile’s National Statistics Institute show that in October, the country’s copper production reached 492,800 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. This marked the highest monthly output so far this year and the highest level for the same period since 2019. Affected by factors such as the pandemic and declining ore grades, Chile’s copper production had once fallen to its lowest level in 20 years. However, several companies—including Chile’s state-owned copper giant Codelco and international mining giant BHP—have launched numerous structural adjustment and expansion projects, leading to a gradual recovery in production. Codelco stated that its output has been on the rise since August, and in October, its production even exceeded its target.
