The growth rate of raw coal production has accelerated. According to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2024, enterprises above a designated size produced 4.76 billion tons of raw coal, an increase of 1.3% year-on-year. In December alone, raw coal production reached 440 million tons, up 4.2% over the same period last year. In 2024, coal imports totaled 540 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.4%.

According to statistical data from the Statistics and Information Department of the China National Coal Association, in 2024, the combined raw coal production of the top 10 enterprises totaled 2.37 billion tons, a decrease of 245.6 million tons year-on-year, accounting for 49.8% of the total raw coal output from enterprises above a designated size. Specifically: State Energy Group produced 621.3 million tons, up 0.8% year-on-year; Jinneng Holding Group produced 402.16 million tons, down 8.1% year-on-year; Shandong Energy Group produced 277.36 million tons, up 1.4% year-on-year; China National Coal Group produced 274.19 million tons, up 1.7% year-on-year; Shaanxi Coal Group produced 252.01 million tons, up 2.0% year-on-year; Shanxi Coking Coal Group produced 182.18 million tons, down 1.5% year-on-year; China Huaneng Group produced 111.05 million tons, up 2.8% year-on-year; Luan Chemical Group produced 93.13 million tons, down 11.3% year-on-year; State Power Investment Corporation produced 80.94 million tons, down 0.1% year-on-year; and Henan Energy Group produced 71.46 million tons, up 6.4% year-on-year.
