Recently, the Chongli Project Team of the Langfang Comprehensive Natural Resources Survey Center of the China Geological Survey achieved a new breakthrough in gold exploration in the covered areas of northwestern Hebei Province through technological innovation.
Since the launch of the new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs, the Chongli Project of the Langfang Center has been focusing on the key gold-mining exploration area in northwestern Hebei Province and has systematically carried out investigation and evaluation work. Over the past two years, the Langfang Center has continuously reviewed extensive data, traced geological trends, conducted verification and measurements, and innovated technical methods. Currently, the project team has identified the geological structures beneath the Quaternary cover layer and proposed a metallogenic model for the alkaline rock bodies in the northwestern Hebei gold mining district—“originating from the mantle through co-melting and metasomatic replacement.” In the loess-covered area around Geyubao, the team has adopted a mineral exploration technique combining “PMGRA gas geochemical survey + CSAMT + induced polarization sounding + drilling verification,” successfully constructing three boreholes and discovering one large-scale structural fracture-altered gold ore zone. The five gold veins identified so far have an estimated inferred gold resource of 0.59 tons, with average grades ranging from 1.13 grams per ton to 2.88 grams per ton in specific segments. The potential gold resources amount to 8.42 tons. Multiple stable, thick ore bodies have been delineated, suggesting medium-scale prospective resources. This work has effectively supported the deployment of the “Strategic Mineral Exploration in the Yanshan-Northern Taihang Region” project and the gold exploration and evaluation efforts in one of the four key exploration areas designated under the nation’s new round of mineral exploration breakthrough strategy.
Next, the Chongli Project of the Langfang Center will aim to “explore more deposits, find high-quality deposits, and discover large-scale deposits,” stepping up basic geological surveys, innovating mineral exploration incentive mechanisms, and enhancing overall exploration capabilities, thereby contributing to the in-depth advancement of the new round of strategic actions for breakthroughs in mineral exploration.
