On May 9, the General Administration of Customs released data showing that in the first four months of the year, China imported 388 million tons of iron ore, a decrease of 5.5%. The average import price (the same applies hereinafter) was 710.4 yuan per ton, down 17.8%. Crude oil imports totaled 183 million tons, up 0.5%, at 3,936.7 yuan per ton, down 8%. Coal imports reached 153 million tons, down 5.3%, at 569.6 yuan per ton, a drop of 22.2%. Natural gas imports amounted to 38.994 million tons, down 9.2%, at 3,318.3 yuan per ton, a decline of 6.1%. Soybean imports totaled 23.19 million tons, down 14.6%, at 3,283.2 yuan per ton, a decrease of 15%. Refined oil imports reached 12.922 million tons, down 25.6%, at 4,381.8 yuan per ton, up 1.6%. In addition, imports of primary-form plastics totaled 9.525 million tons, down 1.1%, at 10,500 yuan per ton, a decrease of 0.5%. Imports of unwrought copper and copper products reached 1.742 million tons, down 3.9%, at 69,000 yuan per ton, up 8.5%. During the same period, imports of electromechanical products totaled 2.23 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.7%.
