　　Mineral exploration is a strength of geological professionals, but it is by no means the only area where geological work can shine. In fact, after more than a decade of exploration, many geological survey institutions have found new avenues for applying their expertise beyond mineral exploration: leveraging their specialized strengths to tap into new markets in fields such as transportation, urban development, environmental protection, agriculture, tourism, and disaster reduction and prevention, thereby developing distinctive specialty industries.

　　Geology is the science that studies the Earth, and the geological opportunities embedded in green production and lifestyles are immeasurable. Take, for example, the prevention and control of air, water, and soil pollution: although geologists have long been involved in this field, their previous work has largely focused on investigation and assessment—simply helping governments identify where pollution exists and what its extent is. But going forward, geologists should confidently take a step further and delve deeper into how to effectively treat pollution—and how to tackle it in a systematic way. This represents a huge market opportunity!

　　For another example, regarding smog control, the government work report proposes: “ The proportion of days with good or excellent air quality in cities at prefectural level and above exceeds 80%” This rigid indicator means that a brand-new market is emerging for geological professionals. If we continue to tackle smog using the same approach we’ve employed in the past—focusing solely on projects for building owners—it’s likely that this model will soon become unsustainable. But what if we shift our perspective and collaborate with investors who are willing to develop shallow geothermal resources, pooling our efforts to provide these resources on a commercial scale? Wouldn’t that create a win-win situation for all parties involved?

　　Historical experience tells us that the more difficulties we face, the more we must maintain our resolve and never let up. As long as we keep our determination strong and our energy undiminished, geological work will surely seize new opportunities and achieve new progress.
