The recently expert-approved report titled “Analysis of Metallogenic Regularities and Potential of Superior Mineral Resources in Key Ore-Forming Belts of the Northeast Asia Region” indicates that, through studies on metallogenic regularities and assessments of ore-forming potential conducted across five key ore-forming belts—including the Mongolia-Ochotsk Belt—10 strategic mineral resource exploration zones have been delineated.

This project is undertaken by the Shenyang Center of the China Geological Survey. The main achievements include: First, the compilation of a 1:5 million geological and mineral map of the Northeast Asia region, as well as 1:1 million geological and mineral maps of five key metallogenic belts—including the Mongolia-Ohotsk Belt—and the establishment of related databases. Second, a new classification of the three-level major tectonic units in the Northeast Asia region has been carried out, dividing the region into four first-level tectonic domains, 11 second-level tectonic units, and 32 third-level tectonic units; additionally, four metallogenic domains, 14 metallogenic provinces, and 75 metallogenic belts have been delineated. Third, focusing primarily on strategic solid minerals—such as gold, silver, copper, lead-zinc, and iron-rich ores—that are in short supply in China—the project has summarized the metallogenic geological conditions and regional metallogenic patterns in the Northeast Asia region. Fourth, detailed studies on the metallogenic patterns and analyses of metallogenic potential have been conducted for five key metallogenic belts—including the Mongolia-Ohotsk Belt—and ten strategic exploration areas have been proposed.
