According to China Association of Asset Appraisers Member information data: Currently, China has 33,802 practicing asset appraisers and 3,364 asset appraisal institutions. In 2015, the top 100 asset valuation firms were distributed across 16 regions. Based on the number of firms that made the list, Beijing took first place with 37 firms, followed by Guangdong with 13 firms and Shanghai with 8 firms. Income In terms of scale, Beijing accounted for the largest share at 30,369.704 million yuan, followed by Shanghai with 7,945.765 million yuan and Guangdong with 3,727.325 million yuan. Zhejiang 21,552.17 million yuan and Jiangsu 17,308.65 million yuan—among the top 100 institutions nationwide, 62 hold securities and futures qualifications. Nine asset valuation agencies with securities and futures qualifications did not make it into the top 100 of the industry for 2015; four of these were based in Beijing. Looking at the regional development status of the asset valuation industry, Beijing currently plays a pivotal role in the industry, with 3,739 certified asset appraisers, 229 asset valuation firms, and 36 firms qualified to provide asset valuation services for securities and futures. In 2015, 37 valuation firms based in Beijing ranked among the top 100 nationwide, and the business revenue generated by Beijing-based firms accounted for 57% of the total revenue of the top 100 firms nationwide. Guangdong and Shanghai followed closely behind. Among the top ten regions in terms of the number of certified asset appraisers and the number of asset valuation firms, Hebei 、 Shanxi Henan did not have any asset appraisal firms ranked among the top 100 for 2015.
Business revenue of asset valuation agencies is growing rapidly.
According to the analysis of development data from the top 100 asset valuation firms between 2011 and 2015, the business revenue scale of these top 100 asset valuation firms has shown a trend of rapid year-on-year growth over the past five years. In 2011, the top 100 asset valuation firms generated business revenue of 30,495.41 million yuan, while in 2015, their business revenue reached 52,912.819 million yuan. Among the 69 valuation firms holding such qualifications, 62 made it into the top 100 rankings; whereas the highest ranking among firms without these qualifications was only 37th. In 2015, the top 100 asset valuation firms generated associated business revenues totaling 167,455.678 million yuan, which was 3.16 times the revenue from asset valuation services alone (see Figure 3).

With the development of the asset valuation industry, the revenue threshold for being ranked among the top 100 asset valuation firms has been rising year by year. In 2011, the revenue threshold for entering the top 100 was 93.381 million yuan; by 2015, this threshold had climbed to 15.2791 million yuan, representing an increase of 63.61%. The average business revenue of the top 100 valuation firms rose from 30.4954 million yuan in 2011 to 52.9128 million yuan in 2015, an increase of 73.51%. If we look at the performance of the top ten firms in the asset valuation industry, we can see even more clearly the rapid pace of industry growth. In 2011, the revenue threshold for entering the top ten was 58.6166 million yuan; by 2015, this threshold had reached 115.9862 million yuan, an increase of 97.87%. The average business revenue of the top ten valuation firms rose from 138.6297 million yuan in 2011 to 250.1506 million yuan in 2015, an increase of 80.45%. In 2011, the top ten firms by revenue would have ranked outside the top 20 in 2015. The development level of the top twenty firms far exceeded that of the bottom eighty firms. The average business revenue of the top twenty firms increased by 83.90% from 2011 to 2015, whereas the bottom eighty firms saw an increase of only 59.36%, a difference of 24.54%.
From the perspective of concentration in the asset valuation industry, the share of revenue contributed by the top ten asset valuation firms—calculated as a percentage of the total revenue of the top 100 firms—rose from 45.46% in 2011 to 47.28% in 2015. The scaled-up development of asset valuation is reflected, on the one hand, in the enhanced overall strength of headquarters, and on the other hand, in the expansion into multiple regional markets. In fiscal year 2015, among the top 100 asset valuation firms, 56 had established branch offices, totaling 298 branches. Among these, six valuation firms each opened more than 10 branch offices; all six of these firms were ranked within the top ten. Fifteen firms opened between 5 and 9 branch offices; among these 15 firms, one was in the top ten, four were in the 11th to 20th ranks, and five were in the 21st to 30th ranks—only four were outside the top 30. The extent to which headquarters demonstrate their overall strength can be gauged by the proportion of headquarters revenue in total business revenue. For the top ten firms, the average share of headquarters revenue was 73.12%; for the top twenty firms, the average share was 74.01%. Among the top twenty firms, four had a headquarters revenue share below 60%, while three had a share exceeding 90%.
