On October 23, the China Mining Association reported that China has achieved remarkable results in mineral exploration this year, with more than 80 newly discovered mineral deposits, about 70% of which are large- and medium-sized. It is estimated that newly confirmed geological reserves will amount to approximately 2.5 billion tons of ore equivalent, representing an increase of around 20% over the previous year.

　　Among these, China’s achievements in lithium exploration are globally leading, and China’s share of global lithium reserves is expected to rise to around 20%. In addition, bauxite reserves are projected to increase by approximately 300 million tons, coal reserves by about 12 billion tons, and oil reserves by more than 1 billion tons. Furthermore, reserves of tungsten, tin, and phosphate mines are expected to grow by roughly 25% year-on-year.

　　Cheng Liwei, President of the China Mining Association, introduced that the addition of new mineral reserves has eased China’s pressure from mineral imports and optimized the structure of mineral types, with strategic minerals now accounting for 40%. The growth rate of strategic emerging minerals has exceeded 50%, far surpassing that of traditional minerals, providing high-quality raw material support for the mining industry chain and driving a transformation from resource dependence to value-driven development.

　　As geological exploration progresses, the “green” component of the exploration process is also steadily increasing. Currently, green exploration projects account for 90% of all activities, and carbon emission intensity has decreased by 15% compared to the previous year.
